Jurgen, Workshop Planner

''Connecting customers and technicians''

The beating heart of the workshop “As a workshop planner, I ensure that mechanics know exactly what to do and when to do it. An engine malfunction, broken lighting, or installing an accessory? Together with the planning team, we make sure everything is carried out on time and according to the customer’s wishes.”

With the office literally located in the middle of all the workshops, the planning department is the beating heart of the workshop. “We keep customers informed about the progress of repairs and brainstorm with mechanics on how to perform repairs in the best and fastest way possible. You’re truly the hub of the operation, and that’s what makes my job so enjoyable.”

"It Doesn’t Matter Where You Come From. We Need Your Expertise."

Diversity and Expertise

“I still vividly remember a Christmas speech by our director, Dave: ‘It doesn’t matter where you come from, we need your technical knowledge.’ This perfectly sums up our team: colleagues ranging in age from 18 to 67, and coming from nearby villages as well as Romania, Poland, and Ukraine.

We handle almost all repairs ourselves, working on various brands and types of vehicles—new and old. This requires a lot of technical expertise. Thanks to our diverse team, we have that expertise in-house, and we also learn a lot from one another. In my 30 years at Kleyn, I’ve learned an incredible amount and continue to learn every day. For example, the advent of electric and hybrid vehicles and increasingly complex systems.”

The Workshop of the Future

“When I started as a warehouse employee in 1995, the workshop mainly focused on repairs for customers from Eastern Europe. If reception called for you, your name would be announced, and you had to rush to the nearest phone booth on the premises. In 2007, I moved to workshop planning, which at the time was still done with pen and paper. It’s clear that much has changed since then: we now also serve customers closer to home, vehicle technology has become more complex, and our planning systems are more advanced.

We’re working toward the workshop of the future: being able to assist every customer, no matter the vehicle. I hope to leave the workshop in this state when I retire. But that’s still some time away; until then, we work together every day to achieve this goal, and above all, I enjoy coming to work every day.”
