Abdelilah, Mechanic

"Give me the tough jobs."

Preferably working on engines Abdelilah has been working as a Van Mechanic at Kleyn since 2016. In the workshop, he carries out a wide range of vehicle repairs. “I basically do everything related to vans,” he says. Still, he has a clear favourite: working on engines.

He is especially drawn to the more challenging jobs. “I really enjoy engine overhauls and complex repairs.” His workday starts by reviewing his work order. After that, he gets started on whatever tasks are waiting for him that day.It is precisely this technical challenge that makes the job so interesting for Abdelilah.

"If someone needs help, everyone is happy to pitch in."

Working together in the workshop In the workshop, Abdelilah works alongside colleagues who are always easy to approach. If you run into a problem, there's always someone willing to think along with you or offer a helping hand.

Practical matters are discussed together as well. “If something comes up, we simply talk about it. We discuss things as a team and help each other out.” For Abdelilah, that is an important part of enjoying his work: having great colleagues, working together, and knowing you can rely on one another.

Continuing to grow as a mechanic After nearly ten years at Kleyn, Abdelilah still finds plenty of challenge in his work. He is not particularly interested in moving into a different role. Instead, he prefers to continue developing himself as a mechanic.

At the moment, he is working towards a mechanic’s certification. After that, if everything goes according to plan, he wants to obtain his MOT inspector certification. This allows him to keep taking new steps and expanding his skills within his current profession.

What would he say to someone considering a job at Kleyn? Abdelilah does not have to think twice about it. “Just welcome. It’s a great place to work. You have good colleagues, and everyone is willing to help.”

Keep working on vehicles and growing your skills, just like Abdelilah?
